DAILY WEATHER OUTLOOK

🌦️ Daily Weather Outlook β€” September 22, 2026

Outlook for September 22, 2026. Check the live forecast for current weather.

🌑️ Temperature

Threat: Limited

Discussion: Humidity will be higher today following morning rainfall across portions of the area. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s across our southern counties, with gradually cooler conditions farther north into South Carolina, where highs will generally remain in the mid to upper 80s. Higher humidity will push heat indices into the upper 90s, especially across the southern Coastal Empire.

🌧️ Rainfall

Threat: Limited

Discussion: Morning showers along the South Carolina coast should gradually diminish as the morning progresses. This afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across portions of the Coastal Empire and South Carolina Lowcountry. A few storms could become stronger and produce locally heavy rainfall.

β›ˆοΈ Severe Weather

Threat: None

Discussion: While a few stronger thunderstorms with gusty winds are possible this afternoon, the overall threat for organized severe weather remains low. Any thunderstorm can still produce dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning. When thunder roars, head indoors!

🌊 Rip Currents

Threat: None

Discussion: The overall rip current threat is low along both the Georgia and South Carolina beaches today. Swimmers should still remain aware of changing surf conditions.

⚠️ Key Notes

🌊 A coastal low/nor'easter is expected to develop off the North Carolina coast later this week before gradually strengthening as it moves toward the New England coast. While the main impacts from this system should remain well north of our area, an increased risk of coastal flooding is expected beginning tomorrow and continuing through at least Friday for coastal Charleston and Colleton counties.

βš“ A prolonged period of hazardous marine conditions is expected through this weekend as winds increase and seas build offshore. Wave heights could reach around 8–10 feet later this week into the weekend. Inexperienced mariners and those operating small craft should exercise extra caution and closely monitor marine forecasts through the weekend.
