Discussion: Rain is generally not anticipated today, although a few isolated showers could develop this afternoon, mainly south of I-16.

🌊 Rip Currents

Threat: High

Discussion: A High Risk of rip currents is in place along the Georgia beaches today, with a Moderate Risk along the South Carolina beaches. Use extreme caution if visiting the coast, as powerful rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore.

⚠️ Key Notes

Waterspouts are possible along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts this morning. Multiple waterspouts, including some large ones, have already been observed offshore of Hilton Head Island. Mariners should remain alert and keep a safe distance from any waterspouts that develop.

A Coastal Flood Statement is in effect for coastal Charleston and Colleton counties this morning due to elevated water levels around the time of high tide.

A multi-day period of hazardous marine conditions begins today. Rough conditions off the Georgia and South Carolina coasts will result in choppy seas and an increased rip current threat over the next several days. Inexperienced mariners and those operating small craft should exercise extra caution.
